A full semester project where I illustrated Dante’s Divine Comedy. I made 10 illustrations - three for hell, three for purgatory, three for paradise and a cover.
I decided to use the medium of colagraphy - an intaglio printmaking technique, where the design is cut into smooth hardened glue. After making the prints using only black paint I edited them digitally - adding color and making small corrections. Since Dante’s paradise is in space and full of shining light and sparks, I decided to invert the colors so that the design appears white on black canvas.
